Multiple Car Accidents
In July, a 44 year old woman came to our office hoping to find relief from constant neck pain, upper, mid and low back pain, headaches, and brain fog which she had been suffering from as a result of 2 motor vehicle accidents within a 3 month period, 2 years prior to her initial visit.
After the car accidents, she began to experience constant throbbing headaches with periodic stabbing pain. She averaged the intensity of her headache pain at a 7/10, and reported that it was 10/10 at its worst and 5/10 at its best. Her neck, upper and low back pain averaged 6/10, 8/10 at its worst, and 3/10 at its best. The neck pain was described as a constant dull ache with frequent stabbing. Her mid back pain was described as a dull ache with tightness between and under the shoulder blades. The pain averaged 7/10, 9/10 at its worst and 3/10 at its best.
Numerous attempts to find relief with various practitioners yielded little or no change. Medication was taken daily to help lessen the intensity of the pain, however her pain was still troublesome. Following the 2nd accident, a rollover, she complained of constant brain fog and stated she felt drunk without drinking, and felt as if she was looking through a bubble.
After 8 weeks of being under Dr. Scholten’s care the woman reported that her headaches were 90% better, her neck, upper and mid back pain 75-80% better, low back 100 % better and her brain fog had improved 10-30%. She had her life back!
A migraine is a headache that lasts from 4 to 72 hrs, is throbbing, is moderate to severe in intensity, is usually one-sided, becomes worse with exertion and is associated with nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light, sound or smell. (Merck Manual)
Migraines
In November, a 29 year old woman presented herself to our office hoping to find relief from migraines that she had been suffering from for nineteen years. The woman usually had migraines every second day and the intensity of her headaches was a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. Symptoms began as a dull pain in the left temple. There is a family connection to her headaches as her mother, sister and grandmother suffer from the same type of migraines. Over the counter pain killers helped her pain but did not get rid of it completely. At the end of her initial eight week period of care the woman stated that her migraines were 80% better and that she no longer needed to take pain medication.
Results with this condition in our office:
Eleven people who suffer from migraines regularly began care in this office during this monitoring period. Of those eleven patients, seven of them have reported an 80-100% improvement, three of them have experienced a 30-80% improvement and only one person has experienced no improvement in their migraine symptoms.

She experienced the migraines once or twice a week and they sometimes would last up to a few days. During her migraine she experiences a stabbing pain behind her eyes. On a scale of 1 to 10 her migraines ranged anywhere from a 1 to an 8 in intensity. At the end of her initial eight week period of care she reported her migraines being 100% better.

Headache
In April, a 45 year-old woman came to our office hoping to find relief from headaches that she had been experiencing twice a week for the past few years. Her headaches had become more frequent recently, and she rated the intensity of her pain at an 8/10, with a 10/10 being the worst pain she could imagine. Her headaches would begin in the afternoon and were usually gone the next day but activity would make them worse. At the end of her initial 8-week period of care she told us that she had not experienced a single headache since her first NUCCA upper cervical adjustment. One year following her first adjustment it was reported that the headaches were still 90% better.
Headache
In June, a 40 year-old woman came into our office with the complaint of headaches that she had been having her entire life. Her headaches were constantly present but had increased in intensity since she had fallen on some ice six months earlier. Symptoms that accompanied her headaches included dizziness and nausea. She rated her headaches as averaging a 5/10, with a 10/10 being the worst pain she could imagine. However, when the headaches got bad she told us they would be a 10/10 and the best they ever were was a 3/10. Advil was being used 4 times a day in combination with a muscle relaxant to help control the pain. Her headaches intensified for no reason that she could identify and motion made them worse. Eight weeks following her first NUCCA upper cervical adjustment in this office she said that her headaches were 100% better and she couldn’t even remember the last time she’d had one.
Neck Pain
In June, a 24 year-old man came to our office hoping to find relief from neck pain he had been experiencing for over 7 years. He stated that his neck would seize up and send a numbing pain through his head, especially when he rotated his head to the right. He also complained of his neck cracking frequently. Prior to his first NUCCA upper cervical adjustment he reported that the pain had become progressively worse and he was experiencing a constant ache with episodes of sharp pain followed by numbness. On average the pain was a 5/10, but would get to an 8-10 / 10 at its worst. Upon re-examination 8 weeks following his initial upper cervical adjustment this young man reported that his neck was not cracking anymore and that his neck pain was 99% better.
Fibromyalgia
In July, a 25 year old woman came to our office hoping to find relief from severe upper back, neck, muscular and nerve issues, and extreme daily fatigue. She had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2003, and had been experiencing severe daily pain that was decreasing her ability to function. Her neck and back were very sensitive to touch, and her lower extremity pain making it difficult to walk. To help lessen the pain, she would have to take 3-4 hot baths a day to try to cope with the extreme pain. Upon completion of the initial 8 week period of care, the young woman reported and overall improvement of 82% (of approx. 20 main complaints that she presented with). At that point she was able to significantly increase her daily activities. The frequency, duration, and intensity of her pain were steadily decreasing. The woman was reassessed after an additional 16 weeks of care, and she was still improving. She reported an overall increased feeling of wellness of approx. 95%, and was recently able to return to work.
Bedwetting
In March, a 12 year old young man was brought to our office hoping to find relief from frequent bedwetting. Prior to his first NUCCA upper cervical adjustment, the young man stated on average he was experiencing 3 bedwetting episodes each week, and prescription medication did not help him. Upon completion of the initial 8 week period of care, the young man reported a 100% improvement, and he was not wetting the bed when he was in alignment.
