Multiple Car Accidents

In July, a 44 year old woman came to our office hoping to find relief from constant neck pain, upper, mid and low back pain, headaches, and brain fog which she had been suffering from as a result of 2 motor vehicle accidents within a 3 month period, 2 years prior to her initial visit.

After the car accidents, she began to experience constant throbbing headaches with periodic stabbing pain. She averaged the intensity of her headache pain at a 7/10, and reported that it was 10/10 at its worst and 5/10 at its best. Her neck, upper and low back pain averaged 6/10, 8/10 at its worst, and 3/10 at its best. The neck pain was described as a constant dull ache with frequent stabbing. Her mid back pain was described as a dull ache with tightness between and under the shoulder blades. The pain averaged 7/10, 9/10 at its worst and 3/10 at its best.

Childhood Constipation

Childhood Constipation

Our daughter was born a healthy baby girl on June 24, 2003. However when she was approximately 6 months old she began to suffer from severe constipation. As parents we tried everything we were told to aid in regularity. We increased her fibre intake as well as her water intake, we tried movement exercises, and even suppositories, but nothing changed. It was extremely painful for her and painful for us to watch. At the same time, she was struggling to roll over and stand straight, and suffered from re-occurring ear infections. After a month of trying everything, we were convinced that there was nothing that could be done.

Migraines

Migraines

I began to suffer from migraines when I was a full-time university student 4 years ago. I had always had sinus problems and been sensitive to weather changes (the “human barometer” was my nickname), but never had a problem with migraines before then. When the migraines began, I was in the habit of carrying about 30 lbs of books with me wherever I’d go and I now realize that I used to study with my head cocked to one side.

Severe Osteoarthritis

Severe Osteoarthritis

Note: This is a letter written by a patient to his physician and medical specialists

During the fall. winter and spring of 2002/2003 I consulted with you regarding spinal stenosis of the cervical region which was causing a great deal of pain and loss of mobility in shoulder, neck, head and arms.

In the course of those consultations it was decided that neurosurgery was not the appropriate treatment for me at that time.

Chronic Neck Pain

Chronic Pain, TMD, Dyslexia

I have experienced many different types of physical therapies over the past twenty years in an attempt to find the source of and relieve my chronic neck pain. My problems seemed to have begun after the birth of my daughter, who is over twenty years old now. The first symptom I noticed was that my jaw was clenching and painful. My journey to a pain free, fully functioning body began with being treated for TMJ Syndrome (Temporal Mandibular Joint). All that baby-carrying and less sleep then began to manifest in my left shoulder and there the pain resided and worsened.

Scoliosis and Car Accident

Scoliosis & Whiplash

I decided to go to Dr. Scholten during the time my daughter was seeing him for a whiplash injury. My daughter has been suffering from a car accident three and a half years ago and has had massage, extensive physiotherapy and intra muscular stimulation (in attempts to relieve her pain). She now has seen progress. She is a high level synchronized swimmer and this has made a big difference in her attitude, performance and how she is feeling.
