Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. Pain can be caused by numerous sources: mechanical dysfunction, inflammation, tissue injury, irritation to nerve roots, etc. Pain may show up years after you (sometimes unknowingly) begin having a problem. The pain location may be an indication of the area of involvement, but often the pain is not felt in the actual problematic area. Because pain can also give clues as to what might be going on in the body, it should never be ignored. Far too many people tolerate pain for too long before deciding to do something about it. By that time, the deterioration has become harder to fix and is sometimes even irreversible.
